STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team dropped the first match of the College of Staten Island Fall Classic to New Jersey City University, 6-0, at the CSI Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees now start the season 0-2.
The Gothic Knights (3-0) put the pressure on for the entire contest, outshooting the Maccabees 21-11. Yeshiva was able to withstand the pressure until Gabriel Freitas' goal off a free kick from 40-yards out gave NJCU a 1-0 lead, 24:45 into the contest. Omar Ventura then scored his first of two goals during the afternoon, less than four minutes later to extend the Gothic Knights' advantage. Yeshiva surrendered four more goals in the second half.

The Maccabees will return to the CSI Soccer Complex on Monday, for a matchup against the host Dolphins, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
