NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J. – The Yeshiva University roller hockey team won two out of three games, out in New Jersey, on Sunday morning. The Maccabees dropped a heartbreaking loss to Stony Brook University, 6-5, in overtime but bounced back to defeat the University of Delaware (8-2) and Penn State (5-2).
In the opening game against Stony Brook, Yeshiva had the edge in shots, 45-28. The Maccabees scored four unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead at the end of two. In the third, Stony Brook scored four unanswered goals of its own to jump out in front. With 10:04 remaining, sophomore forward
Ari Drazin produced a power-play goal, off a feed from classmate
Amir Gavarin, to tie the game at five goals apiece. That would be the score at the end of regulation. Stony Brook scored the game-winning goal, 8:54 into the sudden-victory overtime period.
For the game, Drazin produced a goal and an assist, while Gavarin also had a power play goal and an assist. Freshman forward
Moshe Genuth scored two goals, including one short-handed. Sophomore forward
Jake Ratzker added a goal, while classmate
Avi Margulies helped out with two assists. Sophomore defensemen
Benjy Shulman also tallied an assist.
In the win against Delaware, Yeshiva scored the game's first four goals in the opening period and never looked back. Senior forward
Etan Bardash and Drazin each scored two goals, while Shulman, Genuth, Ratzker, and sophomore
Michael Fruchter each put the puck in the back of the net once. Margulies, Bardash, Shulman, freshman forward

Jesse Gordon each tallied an assist. In net, sophomore goaltender
Jonathan Jaroslawicz made 19 saves.
In the win against Penn State, the Maccabees had the advantage in shots, 42-16. Drazin produced two goals, while Shulman and Gavarin also found the back of the net. Genuth clinched the game by scoring an empty net goal. Jaroslawics stopped 14 more shots.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Sunday February 12
th for games against Villanova University, the University of Delaware, and Drexel University. The first game is scheduled for 7:00 a.m.Â
