PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in a Skyline Conference Tri-Match, hosted by St. Joseph's Long Island, on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees fell to the Golden Eagles, 3-0, and were defeated by the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent in straight sets.
In the match against St. Joseph's Long Island, set scores were 25-2, 25-17, and 25-10. Senior defensive specialist
Dalia Sieger led all players with 14 digs, while classmate
Yael Ghelman added 11 digs to go along with six assists, a service ace, and a kill. Senior middle blocker
Gavriela Colton slammed home three kills, anchored the defense with four digs, added a helper, and recorded a block assist. Senior outside hitter
Ilana Leggiere added a pair of kills, with six digs, and an assist. Classmate
Esther Alexander recorded four digs on defense, while senior outside hitter
Batya Schreier had two kills with a block assist. Sophomore libero
Sarah Leah Zians had three digs, while junior defensive specialist
Mellissa Stock and freshman right side hitter
Kayla Gross contributed on defense with a dig each.
In the match against Mount Saint Vincent, set scores were 25-9, 25-7, and 25-11. Sieger once again led all players with 10 digs, and added two kills with an assist. Colton slammed home two kills of her own with just as many digs. Ghelman had six digs, just as many assists, and a kill. Schreier added two kills and produced an assist. Stock had two digs, while senior outside hitter
Yael Green produced a dig of her own.
Yeshiva will host Mount Saint Mary, in a Skyline match at John Jay, on Tuesday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
