BOSTON, Mass. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team battled Emmanuel College, in the first round of the Emmanuel College Tip-Off Classic at the Jean Yawkey Center, on Saturday evening. The Saints won the contest, 100-18, to earn a berth in the championship game.
The hosts will take on the Pioneers of William Paterson University, on Sunday beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Maccabees drop to a record of 1-1 and will play against Gallaudet University in the consolation game, that same day at 1:00 p.m.
Emmanuel (1-0) led from wire-to-wire.
Leading the Maccabees in scoring was junior forward
Nicole Bick with eight points. She also grabbed five rebounds, forced three steals, and dished out an assist. Freshman forward
Lindsay Brandwein grabbed a team-high 10 boards, while scoring two points. Senior forward
Michal Alge grabbed nine caroms, while adding three points and a steal. Freshman forward
Celia Cohen chipped in with four points, grabbed just as many rebounds, and forced a steal. Sophomore guard
Laura Betesh had two steals, added a point, and brought down a rebound, while freshman guard
Adina Rosenberg forced a steal of her own.
The consolation game against Gallaudet University will also take place at the Jean Yawkey Center.Â
