RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team suffered a Skyline Conference loss to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 80-52, at the Peter Jay Sharp Center, on Sunday evening. Yeshiva now drops to 2-5 overall, and 1-2 in Skyline play, while CMSV advances to 3-1 overall, and 2-1 in the conference.
The Dolphins never trailed at any point in the game, and had a 17-6 advantage at the end of one quarter of play. Yeshiva scored the first six points in the second. Highlighted in YU's run was a 3-point field goal by freshman guard
Chana Boltax to pull the Maccabees to within six, at 17-11. On the next offensive possession, classmate
Celia Cohen hit a free throw to narrow Mount Saint Vincent's lead to 17-12, with 8:18 remaining in the half.
The home team would shift momentum into its favor and outscored Yeshiva, 16-10, in the last 7:49 of the period to take a 33-22 lead into the intermission. Mount Saint Vincent outscores Yeshiva, 47-30, in the second half to earn the Skyline victory.
For the game, junior guard
Nicole Bick led the team in scoring with 16 points, while grabbing three rebounds, distributing a pair of assists, and forcing a steal. Senior forward
Michal Alge just missed a double-double, as she scored 13 points and brought down nine caroms. She also forced four steals and had an assist. Cohen added nine points with four rebounds, two assists, and a block.
Freshman forward
Lindsay Brandwein added six points with three rebounds, while forcing two steals. Classmate
Leah Shulman had three points and a steal, while Boltax had two rebounds and an assist to go along with three points. Junior guard
Penny Rabin had two rebounds, just as many assists, and a steal. Freshman guard
Adina Rosenberg scored two points with a rebound, while classmate
Kaley Baker grabbed a board of her own.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Tuesday, for a Skyline Conference matchup at Mount Saint Mary College. Tip-off at the Kaplan Center is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
