EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team opened the 2017 spring season with a statement win over the College of Staten Island, 9-0, at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Thursday evening. The Maccabees start the season 1-0, while the Dolphins drop to 0-1.
Yeshiva swept its doubles matches and won all six singles flights. In fact, Yeshiva won every set except for one.
Senior
David Papis Elon won at #1 singles (6-2, 6-2) and teamed up with classmate
Eitan Rudansky to win at #3 doubles (8-0). Rudansky won a tight sixth singles flight. After splitting the first two sets (6-2, 6-7) Rudansky won the tiebreaker, 10-4.
Newcomer
Adam Rosemblaum and junior
Mikey Ozery combined for a #1 doubles win, 8-4, with the former claiming #2 singles (6-2, 6-2) and the latter earning a win at #3 singles (6-1, 6-2).
Freshman
Lior Brik and senior
Eric Cohen were victorious in their #2 doubles match, 8-4, while winning at #4 singles (6-0, 6-2) and #5 singles (6-0, 6-3), respectively.
Yeshiva will return to the Binghamton Racquet Club on Sunday, for another non-conference match against Western Connecticut State, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
