NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team will be competing in the first round of the NCAA tournament against Ramapo College, on the campus of Amherst College, on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Maccabees received an automatic bid into the NCAA championships after defeating Purchase College for its fourth straight Skyline Conference tournament championship, on Sunday.
The winner of Thursday's match will take on nationally ranked No. 8 Amherst College on Friday morning, at 10:00 a.m.
The Maccabees (15-1) have won the last two head-to-head matchups with the Roadrunners (12-7) over the course of the previous two seasons. Ramapo earned an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament after winning its fifth straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament title, on Saturday.
This will mark the fourth year in a row in which the Maccabees have competed in the NCAA tournament. In 2015, Yeshiva knocked off Colby-Sawyer in the first round, 5-3, to win the first NCAA tournament contest in school history.
Yeshiva will be led by the reigning three-time Skyline Conference Player of the Year, senior
David Papis Elon, who went undefeated in #1 singles contests, at 10-0, while compiling a 10-1 mark in doubles play. Freshman
Lior Brik, who was named the Skyline Rookie of the Year on Tuesday, accumulated an impressive 13-2 record in singles competition, and went 13-3 in doubles contests.
Sophomore
Adam Rosemblaum was named to the Skyline All-Conference first team, in just his first season with the team, winning 11 out of 13 singles matches, including a 4-0 record in the first flight. In doubles, the Herzliya native went 12-2, all at the number one position. Sophomore
Mikey Ozery, who was voted into the Skyline All-Conference second team, went 8-2 in singles matches and produced a 9-1 record in doubles play.
