NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team will begin its quest for a fourth straight Skyline Conference championship, with a conference semifinal match against #4 Mount Saint Mary College, on Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m. The match will take place at the Binghamton Racquet Club.
The Maccabees finished the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record in Skyline matches to earn the #1 seed in the Skyline Conference championships. YU went 13-1 overall this season, and has won 23 consecutive Skyline matches dating back to 2014.
Earlier this year, Yeshiva defeated Mount Saint Mary, 9-0, at the Binghamton Racquet Club, back on March 26. The Knights finished the regular season with a record of 8-6 overall, and 5-3 in Skyline play. Mount Saint Mary defeated #5 Farmingdale State, 5-2, in the first round of the Skyline championships on Tuesday.
Leading the way for the Maccabees has been senior
David Papis Elon, who won all 10 of his #1 singles contests this year. The Herzliya native finished with an impressive doubles record of 8-1, including 2-0 in the first position.
Sophomore
Adam Rosemblaum had made a big impact in just his first year with the team, going 10-2 in singles matches, which includes an undefeated mark in conference matches, at 7-0. The sophomore standout went 4-0 in the first singles position. Rosemblaum went 11-1 in doubles contests, all of which were in the first flight.
Freshman
Lior Brik has had an outstanding rookie season. The rookie phenom went 12-2 in singles competition, including a 4-0 record in the second position. Brik went 11-1 at #1 doubles this season.
The winner of the Yeshiva-Mount Saint Mary match will take on the winner of the #3 Merchant Marine-#2 Purchase semifinal contest, in the championship match. If Yeshiva wins, the Skyline final will take place on Sunday, at the Binghamton Racquet Club.
