TEANECK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking Skyline Conference loss to St. Joseph's Long Island, 1-0, at Votee Park on Sunday evening. Yeshiva now drops to 3-3 overall, and 0-3 in Skyline play.
The lone goal of the match came from Shayne Johnson of St. Joseph's Long Island (1-5, 1-0 Skyline), in the 62
nd minute, as he headed the ball into the net off a cross by Alex Tarach, for the game-winner. The Maccabees could not provide consistent pressure in St. Joseph's end of the field.
The Golden Eagles had the edge in shots, 29-11, and took 11 of the 12 total corner kicks in the match. Sophomore goalkeeper
Max Goldstein made 10 saves to keep the Maccabees in the contest. Junior forward
Albert Dichy, freshman midfielder
Isaac Bendahan, and junior midfielder
Julian Ribak each had a shot on goal.
Yeshiva will take some time off, but will be back in action next Tuesday, for a Skyline match at Maritime College. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
