St. Joseph's Long Island Edges Men's Soccer in Hard-Fought Skyline Match

TEANECK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking Skyline Conference loss to St. Joseph's Long Island, 1-0, at Votee Park on Sunday evening. Yeshiva now drops to 3-3 overall, and 0-3 in Skyline play.

The lone goal of the match came from Shayne Johnson of St. Joseph's Long Island (1-5, 1-0 Skyline), in the 62nd minute, as he headed the ball into the net off a cross by Alex Tarach, for the game-winner. The Maccabees could not provide consistent pressure in St. Joseph's end of the field.

The Golden Eagles had the edge in shots, 29-11, and took 11 of the 12 total corner kicks in the match. Sophomore goalkeeper Max Goldstein made 10 saves to keep the Maccabees in the contest. Junior forward Albert Dichy, freshman midfielder Isaac Bendahan, and junior midfielder Julian Ribak each had a shot on goal.

Yeshiva will take some time off, but will be back in action next Tuesday, for a Skyline match at Maritime College. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
