Benhamu's Goal Not Enough Against Maritime

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team dropped its Skyline Conference match to Maritime College, 8-1, at Reinhart Field on Tuesday evening. The Maccabees now fall to 3-4 overall and 0-4 in Skyline play.

The Privateers (7-2-1, 1-1-0 Skyline) scored five goals in the first half, and added three more in the second, to earn the Skyline win. Three of Maritime's goals occurred via penalty kicks.

Yeshiva's lone goal came in the 69th minute, as freshman midfielder Alberto Benhamu notched his fourth tally of the year. It would not be enough, as Yeshiva suffered its fourth straight conference loss. Junior midfielder Dan Cohen was credited with the assist.

For the evening, the Privateers had the edge in shots, 25-14, and corner kicks, 9-3. Sophomore goalkeeper Max Goldstein made five saves, while senior Benjamin Aboudi stopped all four shots he faced in relief.

Yeshiva will be back in action on Thursday, as the Maccabees will host the Rams of Farmingdale State, in a Skyline Conference match at Ridgefield Park. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
