Cotton Notches Goal as Men's Soccer Suffers Skyline Loss to Farmingdale State

RIDGEFIELD, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team dropped its Skyline Conference match to Farmingdale State, 5-1, at Overpeck Park on Thursday evening. The Maccabees now fall to 3-5 overall, and 0-5 in conference play.

The Rams (4-3, 1-2 Skyline) got on the board in the 11th minute, as Luis Vasquez took a feed from Christian Campos and drilled the ball into the net, from just outside the box, to put the visiting team up, 1-0.

Yeshiva would strike back in the 24th minute, as junior midfielder Julian Ribak crossed the ball to classmate Juan Cotton, who rifled it into the back of the cage from the right wing, to tie the match at one goal apiece.

Farmingdale State answered back in the 42nd minute, as Gerard Farrell shot the ball from inside the box. Sophomore goalkeeper Max Goldstein stopped the first attempt, but Farrell was able to score on his own rebound for the official game-winning tally. The Rams took a 2-1 advantage into the intermission.

In the second stanza, Farmingdale State scored three times to put the contest out of reach for the Maccabees. The Rams went on to win the match, 5-1.

Farrell led the way with two goals and an assist for Farmingdale.

For the evening, the Rams doubled the Maccabees in shots, 24-12, and had the slight edge in corner kicks, 5-4. Goldstein made nine saves for Yeshiva, while Daniel Stern made six saves to pick up the win for Farmingdale State.

The Blue and White will travel to Montclair State, on Monday, for a non-conference match with the Red Hawks. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
