BRONX, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's cross country team competed in the Monroe Mustang Invitational, at Van Cortlandt Park, on Friday morning. The Maccabees finished in second place as a team, and first among NCAA Division III schools, with 61 points. The Macs' average time as a unit was 26:47.94.
"I am very proud with how the team performed today," Yeshiva University head coach
Rolanda Bell said. "The girls came out, did their best, and the results showed."
Leading the way for the Maccabees was first-year runner
Shirah Isaacs, who finished 12
th overall. She completed the 6k race in 24:05.64. Senior
Ayelet Itzhak earned 19
th place, with a time 26:01.19. Junior
Amanda Kasztl earned 21
st place, with a time of 26:20.15. Senior
Rivka Greenberg was the 22
nd runner to cross the finish line, at the 27:54.56 mark. Sophomore
Leeba Goldenhersh came in 23
rd place, finishing with a time of 29:38.14.
Rounding out the Yeshiva student-athletes were first-year runner
Sarah Russman (26
th overall), senior
Libbie Brooks (29
th place), and sophomore
Yitzhar Shalom (33
rd overall).
The Maccabees will be back in action on Sunday, for the Cougar Chase, out in Caldwell, N.J. The start time will be announced later this week.
