Women's Volleyball Falls to Mount Saint Mary

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's volleyball team suffered a Skyline Conference loss to Mount Saint Mary College, 3-0, at the Kaplan Center on Thursday evening. Set scores were 25-5, 25-15, and 25-7.

The Knights (12-11, 4-2 Skyline) led wire-to-wire in the opening game. The Maccabees (1-7, 0-3 Skyline) got off to a strong start in the second stanza, as a service ace by sophomore middle blocker Tehilla Teigman highlighted a 5-1 run to allow YU to jump out in front, 6-5. After the Knights scored four unanswered points to take the lead, Teigman slammed home a kill to cap off Yeshiva's second unanswered point and narrow the opposition's advantage to one. Later in the set, MSMC went on an 11-3 run to take a commanding 23-13 lead. Mount Saint Mary ended up clinching the second game, 25-15, to put Yeshiva on the brink.

The home team scored the first 10 points of the third set, and never looked back, as the Knights clinched the sweep.

For the match, Teigman had four kills, just as many digs, two blocks, and a pair of aces. Senior middle blocker Abigail Epstein also had four digs, to go along with two kills, and one assist. Senior outside hitter Batya Schreier produced three assists and chipped in on defense with a pair of digs. Senior outside hitter Kayla Gross had an assist, while classmate Julie Chase had a solid game defensively with a pair of blocks and a dig. Senior libero Melissa Stock and senior right side hitter Ilana Karp each produced a dig of their own.

Yeshiva will host Brooklyn College, in a non-conference matchup, at the ARC arena on Sunday afternoon. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
