EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team earned a non-conference victory in its first and only fall match of the season, 9-0, over Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday evening. The contest took place at the Binghamton Racquet Club.
The Maccabees (1-0) won all three doubles matches, and went 6-0 in singles flights, to earn the convincing win.
Freshman
Aaron Cohen had a successful collegiate debut, earning a win in the first singles position 6-3, 6-2. He teamed up with junior
Lior Brik to dominate the first doubles flight, 8-2. Brik came back to win every game in the third singles position.
Senior
Mikey Ozery paired with newcomer
Amram Wahnon to claim the second doubles flight, 8-0. Ozery was victorious at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Freshman
Samuel Edery and senior
Adam Bandler closed out the doubles portion of the match by earning an 8-1 win in the third position. Freshman
Jeremy Brody won every game at No. 4 singles, while junior
Alexander Kalb earned a convincing win in the fifth singles position, 6-1, 6-0. Freshman
Morris Harari dominated the sixth singles flight, 6-0, 6-0.
"It was great to get nearly all of our rookies involved in this team win," Yeshiva University head coach
Jon Rubinstein said. "The guys have improved a lot since the first days of practice. Although there were some butterflies out there, they battled through them and competed well. Great team win!"
Yeshiva will compete against Division I University of Delaware, at the Elkton Indoor Racquet Club, on February 17. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
