ELKTON, Md. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team dropped its spring 2019 opener to Division I University of Delaware, 7-0, on the Elkton Indoor Tennis Courts, on Sunday evening. The Blue Hens advance to 6-2, while the Maccabees drop to 1-1.
In doubles play, senior
Mikey Ozery and junior
Avidan Rudansky won four games, but fell short in a tight match in the second position by a score of 6-4. At the No. 1 flight, freshman
Aaron Cohen and junior
Lior Brik won a pair of games.
In singles play, newcomer
Amram Wahnon was victorious in one game at the fifth position.
"We played really well, especially considering it was our first match," Yeshiva University head coach
Jon Rubinstein said. "Captain
Mikey Ozery did a great job pumping the guys up and leading second doubles in their tight battle. Unfortunately, Delaware was already in mid-season form and were just a level above us and had an extra gear when they needed it."
Yeshiva will host ASA College, at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Tuesday, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
