EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team dropped its home opener to ASA College (N.Y.), 9-0, at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Tuesday evening. The Avengers remain unbeaten at 2-0, while the Maccabees drop to 1-2.
Junior
Lior Brik competed in a competitive second set of the third singles flight, but fell short (6-1, 6-4). Freshman
Aaron Cohen won four games, three of them in the second set, at No. 2 singles. Freshman
Amram Wahnon won a pair of games in the second set at the fourth singles position.
In doubles, senior
Mikey Ozery teamed with Wahnon to play a competitive match at the second position, but just fell short by a score of 8-6. Cohen and Brik won a game at No. 1 doubles.
"Another tough match," Yeshiva University head coach
Jon Rubinstein said. "But the guys don't get down on themselves. Second doubles fought real hard all the way to the end. Lior battled a tough opponent and changed game plans to push a tight second set (at No. 3 singles). If we continue improving, we will see positive outcomes soon."
Yeshiva will return to the Binghamton Racquet Club on Sunday, for a match against future Skyline opponent Manhattanville College, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
