Defending Four-Time Skyline Champion Men's Tennis Team Projected to Finish First in Coaches Poll

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Skyline Conference announced its preseason coaches poll for men's tennis on Thursday morning. The defending four-time Skyline Conference champion Yeshiva University is projected to finish first in this year's standings, receiving first place votes from all seven other head coaches in the conference.

Last season, the Macabees went undefeated in conference matches and won the Skyline championship for the fourth year in a row. Yeshiva earned a hard-fought win over Ramapo College, 5-3, in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.

Leading the way this season will be junior Adam Rosemblaum. The Herzliya native was named to the Skyline All-Conference First Team, going 12-2 in singles matches last season, and 12-4 in doubles contests. He earned wins at No. 2 singles in both the Skyline championship match against Purchase and in the opening round of the NCAA tournament against Ramapo.

Also returning to the team is sophomore Lior Brik, who was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year in 2016-17. He went 13-3 in singles competition, including a win in the fourth position in the Skyline championship match. In doubles, the Zichron Yaakov native boasted an impressive 13-5 record, including 12-4 in #1 doubles contests.

Junior Mikey Ozery will return to the team. Last season, he won nine out of 11 singles contests and had an outstanding record of 10-2 in doubles matches. He won at No. 2 doubles in the Skyline Conference championship match, while also winning his No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles flights in Yeshiva's NCAA tournament first round victory over Ramapo College.

Yeshiva University head coach Jon Rubinstein will once again be at the helm. He earned his second straight Skyline Coach of the Year Honor, last season. Since taking over the team in 2015, Yeshiva has yet to lose a Skyline match, winning three championships and earning two NCAA tournament wins. YU has won 23 consecutive Skyline matches dating back to 2014.

The men's tennis team became the first program in school history to earn an NCAA bid in 2014, after winning the first of four straight conference championships. The men's tennis program also became the first team in the history of Yeshiva University to win an NCAA tournament contest, in 2015.

Yeshiva will open the 2018 spring season with a match at the University of Delaware, a Division I school, on the Elkton Indoor Tennis Courts on Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
