PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team dropped both matches in the Skyline Conference tri-match, at Purchase College, on Sunday. The Maccabees fell to the host Panthers by a score of 3-0, and then lost to the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent in straight sets.
In the match against Purchase (5-9, 3-3 Skyline), set scores were 25-12, 25-18, and 25-18. Sophomore opposite hitter
Derek Orenshein led the way for the Maccabees (3-12, 2-6 Skyline), both offensively and defensively, with eight kills and seven digs. Junior outside hitter
Chaim Aryeh Rubin slammed home seven kills and contributed on defense with three digs. Freshman setter
Isaac Pomerance led the team with 16 assists, scored two service aces, and added four digs, while sophomore middle blocker
Yosef Ajami added just as many digs of his own.

Joseph Sulaymanov had two kills with two digs, while junior outside hitter
Amitai Miller produced four digs. Freshman outside hitter
Jonathan Apsan scored a kill, while freshman libero
Gavriel Hizami had a solid game defensively with three digs.
In the match against Mount Saint Vincent (10-10, 5-0 Skyline), set scores were 25-10, 25-6, and 25-11. Rubin produced seven kills with four digs, while Pomerance had six assists and five digs, both team-highs. Hizami, Orenshein, and Miller added two digs each, while Sulaymanov, Apsan, and senior middle blocker
David Fattakhov each produced one dig. Orenshein and Sulaymanov combined for two kills.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Wednesday evening, for a non-conference match at New Jersey City University, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
