Men's Tennis Defeats St. Joseph's Long Island to Clinch Spot in Skyline Championships

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team earned a convincing conference victory over St. Joseph's Long Island, 9-0, at the USTA National Tennis Center on Sunday evening. Thanks to the victory, the Maccabees have clinched a berth in the upcoming Skyline Conference championships. The defending four-time Skyline champions have now won 28 consecutive conference matches.

"I'm excited that we have clinched a spot in the playoffs," Yeshiva University head coach Jon Rubinstein said. "It's one more step towards our goal of going for a fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament. The guys have improved as the season has gone on and every member has contributed to our success."

Junior Adam Rosemblaum teamed up with sophomore Lior Brik to dominate at #1 doubles, 8-0. Rosemblaum came back to win every game in the first singles position. Brik was victorious in the third singles flight, 6-1, 6-2.

Freshman Dor Gutterman and sophomore Avidan Rudansky combined forces to win at #2 doubles, 8-1, while junior Isaac Scheinman and freshman Dylan Ohayon were victorious in the third doubles flight, 8-4.

Scheinman continued his momentum in singles play, winning the sixth flight 6-4, 7-6 (12-4). Senior Charlie Friedman won every game at #2 singles, while sophomore Yoni Sacknovitz earned a convincing victory at #4 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Freshman Ezra Rudansky picked up the win in the fifth singles position, 6-1, 6-1.

Yeshiva will travel to Kings Point on Tuesday, for a Skyline Conference showdown against the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Both teams are 5-0 in the conference. First serve is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
