CONEY ISLAND, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University baseball team suffered a hard-fought loss to New York University, 13-3, at MCU Park on Wednesday afternoon. The Violets advance to 26-8, while the Maccabees fall to 3-21.
Yeshiva managed to load the bases in the top half of the first, highlighted by a single off the bat of senior shortstop
Shmuli Goldis. However, NYU was able to escape the jam without giving up a run.
The Violets produced two runs in the bottom frame, and added five more in the second, to take a commanding lead. The Maccabees got one run back in the third, thanks to an RBI groundout by senior first baseman
Chaim Nosson Rosenberg, pulling YU to within six.
The Maccabees once again loaded the bases in the top half of the fourth inning, with one out. Goldis picked up an RBI on a groundout to score sophomore catcher

Mordechai Cohen walked to score sophomore left fielder
Shmuel Silverstein, to cut NYU's lead to 7-3.
The Violets scored a pair of runs in the fifth, three in the seventh, and one in the eighth to earn the victory.
For the game, Yeshiva drew eight walks as a team. Sophomore center fielder
David Hanelin went 2-for-3 with a base on balls and a stolen base. First-year third baseman
Alex Malech went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Cohen went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Silverstein reached base with three walks, while sophomore third baseman
Mordy Kirsch drew a walk of his own. Rosenberg reached base three times and stole a base, while Goldis had one stolen base of his own. Shafron produced a base on balls.
On the mound, Zach Cohen started the game and earned the win. Sophomore pitcher
Sonny Braha went 4.2 innings to take the loss.
Yeshiva will return to the diamond on Friday, for a Skyline doubleheader at St. Joseph's College Long Island. First pitch is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
