BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's soccer team suffered a non-conference loss to Green Mountain College, 8-0, at the Aviator Sports and Events Center, on Sunday afternoon. It was the season opener for the Eagles (1-0), while the Maccabees start off the year, 0-2.
Green Mountain was led by Maya Golowasch, who scored four goals and added an assist. Avery Barber registered a pair of goals and a helper, while Taylor Merrit scored a goal and provided an assist. Kali DeMarco registered a goal of her own.
For the Maccabees, sophomore defender
Elizabeth Pavel recorded two shots. Pavel created YU's best scoring chance as she ran with the ball down the field, but kicked it just wide of the net. In goal, junior
Gabriella Chutter started the match and made five saves, while sophomore
Rivka Lindenblatt stopped a shot in relief.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Tuesday, for a non-conference match at Brooklyn College. The contest is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
