BROOKLYN, N.Y. - A strong defensive effort by the Yeshiva University women's soccer team was not enough against Brooklyn College, as the Maccabees fell by a score of 2-0, at the Brooklyn College Soccer Field on Tuesday evening. The Macs drop to 0-3, while the Bulldogs earn the win in their season opener.
It did not take Brooklyn long to strike first, as a goal by Deborah Vixama in the seventh minute put Yeshiva in an early hole. Rachel Gomez was credited with her first of two assists in the match.
Yeshiva would settle in defensively, as the Maccabees held the Bulldogs to just four shots for the remainder of the half.
The Maccabees could not sustain any pressure on the Bulldogs' defense throughout the second half. Brooklyn earned more breathing room in the match, thanks to an insurance goal by Keri Kenna in the 87
th minute to extend Brooklyn's lead to 2-0. Gomez earned her second helper of the night.
The Bulldogs went on to win their season opener, 2-0.
