NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's volleyball team suffered a non-conference loss to The King's College (N.Y.) in straight sets, at Nat Holman Gymnasium, on Sunday afternoon. Set scores were 25-9, 25-7, and 25-6.
The Lions (2-0) fell behind 1-0 in the opening set, but never trailed at any point in the match since. In the third game, a kill by senior outside hitter
Batya Schreier narrowed King's lead to 10-5, but the visiting team countered by going on a 15-1 run to close out the set and clinch the match.
For Yeshiva (0-2), sophomore middle blocker
Tehilla Teigman led all players with eight digs, while senior libero
Melissa Stock also anchored the defense with five digs of her own. Senior middle blocker
Abigail Epstein and sophomore setter
Julie Chase each produced four digs. Schreier and first-year middle blocker
Rebekah Bargraser each slammed home a pair of kills and had just as many digs. Senior setter
Ellie Chase registered two assists and a pair of digs.
Yeshiva will return to Nat Holman Gymnasium on Thursday, this time as the visiting team, as the Maccabees battle the host Beavers of the City College of New York. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
