THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - The Yeshiva University men's soccer team fought hard but fell short in a Skyline Conference match to Maritime College, 2-0, at Reinhart Field on Friday afternoon.
The two teams were each held without a goal in the first half, but the Privateers (9-9-1, 4-5-1 Skyline) produced a pair of tallies in the second stanza to earn the league victory. Senior forward Justin Forrest scored the official game-winning goal in the 53
rd minute, as he received a feed from sophomore midfielder Thomas Kropp and rifled the ball into the net to break the scoreless tie. Yeshiva (2-9-1, 0-8-1 Skyline) had a golden opportunity to even the contest during the 57

Ilan Slonim shot the ball from inside the box but was denied by freshman goalkeeper Ethan SIlver. Freshman midfielder
Jess Rom collected the rebound and shot the ball towards the open net, but a Maritime defender blocked the ball from going into the cage.
Maritime added an insurance goal with just 2:42 remaining, as senior forward Anthony Sblendorio found the back of the cage. Junior forward Christopher Tavernese was credited with the assist. The Privateers went on to earn the Skyline win, 2-0.
For the afternoon, Maritime outshot Yeshiva, 32-7. Freshman goalkeeper
Benjamin Brener made 11 saves for the Maccabees, while Silver turned aside five shots to pick up the shutout victory.
Yeshiva will have another Skyline road match on Sunday, this time against the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
