YONKERS, N.Y. - The Yeshiva University men's soccer team dropped a competitive Skyline matchup to Purchase College, 2-1, at Fleming Park on Thursday evening. The Panthers advance to 6-3-1 overall (4-1-0 Skyline), while the Maccabees fall to 2-7-1 (0-6-1 Skyline).
All three goals were scored in the opening half. Purchase stuck first as sophomore forward Jasper Ehrhardt propelled the ball into the net, from outside the box on the right wing, just over eight minutes into the contest. Junior midfielder Juan Arboleda and first-year midfielder Brandon Balcaceres earned the assists on the play.

Jess Rom executed a pass through a sea of defenders to junior forward
Zachary Stauber, who rifled the ball into the back of the net from 20 yards out to tie the match, 1-1.
With less than five minutes remaining before intermission, junior midfielder Eslam Ellisy of Purchase College slid the ball deep into the box and sophomore midfielder Colman Cassidy was there to tip it in to put the visiting team back up by a goal.
The Maccabees had plenty of chances to tie the match in the second half. In the 69
th minute, Rom shot the ball from inside the box that was denied by freshman netminder Mario Olmedo. Rom was able to grab the rebound and wedge the ball past the goalkeeper and towards the net, but a Panther defender blocked the ball just as it was about to go into the cage and then he kicked the ball out of the box. With over eight minutes remaining in regulation time, Stauber sailed a shot just right of the net.
The Maccabees outshot the Panthers, 10-5, during the second half but it was not enough as Purchase was able to hang on to earn the Skyline road victory by a score of 2-1.
For the match, each team produced 17 shots. Yeshiva had the edge in shots that were on target by a 10-7 margin. Purchase had 11 corner kicks, while YU had six.
In net, Olmedo made eight saves to earn the win, while junior goalkeeper
Sagi Badash stopped four shots for the Maccabees.
Yeshiva will host Skyline rival St. Joseph's College Brooklyn on Monday, on the campus of Purchase College, beginning at 8:30 p.m.
