NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yeshiva University men's tennis team concluded the fall season with a convincing win over Albertus Magnus College, 8-1, at the Celentano Courts on Monday evening.
Yeshiva (1-1) won all three of its doubles flights, and went 5-1 in singles play, to end the fall season on a strong note.
"A great team effort today," Yeshiva University head coach
Jon Rubinstein said. "All eight guys had some obstacles during their matches and figured out how to battle through those early season nerves."
Seniors
Lior Brik and
Avidan Rudansky were victorious at No. 1 doubles, 8-4. Rudansky also picked up a victory at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4. Senior
Alexander Kalb and first-year player
Evan Sobolev won the No. 2 doubles contest, 8-5. Kalb came back to win the third singles position, 6-1, 6-2.
"Avidan and Alex showed willingness to change styles to counteract their opponents," Rubinstein said. "Although Lior didn't win his singles match, his tremendous doubles play helped us get a comfortable lead."
Freshman
Anthony Lallouz and sophomore
Jamie Cohen won every game at No. 3 doubles. Lallouz was not done yet, as he picked up the convincing win at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-3.
Junior
Eitan Jeselsohn dominated at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0, while classmate
Benjamin Friedman cruised to a win in the sixth flight, 6-2, 6-3.
"Getting those first wins under their belt for several of our freshman will help in our early spring matches," Rubinstein said. "I am looking forward to getting our full lineup out there together in the spring."
Yeshiva's spring-opener will take place on Friday, February 14, at Division II Queens College. First serve on the Queens College Tennis Courts is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
