EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team was narrowly defeated by the defending 11-time MAC Freedom Conference champion Wilkes University, 5-4, at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Sunday afternoon. The loss snaps Yeshiva's three-match winning streak against Division III opponents, while the Colonels advance to 4-3.
Yeshiva and Wilkes split its six singles matches, but the Colonels took two out of three doubles flights to grab the team-victory. Sophomore Larry Scartz's No. 4 singles victory over freshman
Amram Wahnon clinched Wilkes' fourth victory of the season.
Senior
Mikey Ozery and Wahnon earned Yeshiva's lone doubles victory, at the No. 2 position, by a score of 8-6.
In singles, Cohen dominated at the second flight, 6-1, 6-2. Junior
Alexander Kalb earned an impressive victory at the fifth position, 6-4, 6-1. Freshman
Samuel Edery claimed No. 6 singles, winning both sets by a 6-3 margin.
Yeshiva will open Skyline Conference on Monday March 25, against Mount Saint Mary College, at the Binghamton Racquet Club. First serve is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
