FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team earned a convincing Skyline victory over St. Joseph's College Brooklyn, 9-0, at the USTA National Tennis Center on Wednesday evening. The Maccabees remain unbeaten in Skyline play, advancing to 5-0 in league matches (10-6 overall), and extend their conference winning streak to 35. The Bears fall to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the Skyline.
Yeshiva won all three doubles flight by scores of 8-1. Juniors
Lior Brik and
Alexander Kalb won the first flight, first-year players
Samuel Edery and
Meir Melamed won the second position, and senior
Adam Bandler and sophomore
Jonathan Kestenbaum teamed up to win the third flight.
Ozery only dropped one game in his two-set victory at No. 1 singles. Kalb won every game at the second singles flight. Melamed won six out of eight games in the first set, and was victorious in every game in the second, at No. 3 singles. Bandler did not drop a single game in the fourth flight, while sophomore
Dylan Ohayon was victorious at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-3. Kestenbaum won both sets at No. 6 singles, 6-0.
Yeshiva will battle regionally-ranked No. 16 New York University, in a non-conference showdown at the Stadium Tennis Center, on Thursday evening. First serve is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
