RIDGEFIELD, N.J. – The Yeshiva University baseball team earned a convincing non-conference victory over Vaughn College, 15-3, at Overpeck Park on Tuesday evening. The Maccabees advance to 2-15, while the Warriors drop to 0-3.

Yeshiva scored nine runs in the opening inning and never looked back. Sophomore pitcher Dovie Solomon earned his first collegiate victory on the mound, as he retired all 12 batters he faced and struck out seven of them. The Macs' pitching held the Warriors to just two hits for the game. 

In Yeshiva's productive first inning, freshman first baseman David Kreisberg lined a double down the left field line, scoring senior left fielder Aryeh Salovey, to extend YU's lead to 2-0. He eventually scored on an RBI single off the bat of Solomon. Sophomore right fielder Yosef Rosenfield added an RBI single, later in the frame.

Kreisberg struck again in the bottom of the sixth, producing an RBI single to right that allowed junior shortstop Zachary Baly to score Yeshiva's 15^th and final run of the evening. YU went on to earn the win, 15-3.

For the Maccabees, Baly had a hit, a walk, and scored three runs. Senior second baseman Shmuel Silverstein went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while sophomore infielder Leib Fant also produced a one-base hit. Junior third baseman Mordy Kirsch picked up two RBI, drew a walk, stole a base, and scored twice. Junior catcher Max Goldstein crossed home plate three times and walked just as many times. Solomon scored twice to complement his strong pitching performance. Junior center fielder David Hanelin earned two bases on balls.

On the mound, Hanelin pitched a scoreless inning in relief for YU, while Julian Santi started the game and took the loss for Vaughn.

Yeshiva will host St. Joseph's College Long Island, in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Palisades Park, on Friday morning. First pitch is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
