No. 1 Men's Tennis to Host No. 4 USMMA in Skyline Semifinal on Wednesday

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Yeshiva University men's tennis team will host No. 4 United States Merchant Marine Academy, in the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Championships, on Wednesday evening. First serve at the USTA National Tennis Center is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The defending five-time Skyline Conference Champion Maccabees (12-7) secured the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament after winning all of their league matches, during the regular season, for the fifth year in a row.

The winners of the Yeshiva-USMMA match will play the winner of Wednesday's other semifinal match between No. 2 Farmingdale State and No. 3 Purchase College, in the championship match, this weekend.

The Maccabees and Mariners squared off in the regular season finale, at the Binghamton Racquet Club, back on April 16. Yeshiva earned the convincing victory by a score of 9-0.

Leading the way for Yeshiva has been freshman phenom Aaron Cohen, who has won all five of his Skyline singles matches, during the regular season. Two of those victories came at the No. 1 position. The first-year standout is 11-6 in singles contests, overall. Cohen has won four out of five conference doubles flights, in his young career.

Senior Mikey Ozery has won all four of his Skyline doubles matches, so far this year. Two have come at the first position, and the other two have occurred in the second flight. Overall, Ozery has won 10 out of 13 doubles contests, in 2018-19.

Leading the way for the Mariners has been senior Daniel Zakrevski, who has won five No. 1 singles matches, during the year. Classmate Branden Deeter went 8-4 in doubles flights, including 6-1 in Skyline play.
