DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team opened the season in thrilling fashion, earning a come-from-behind victory over Delaware Valley University by a score of 2-1, at Robert A. Lipinski Field on Friday afternoon.
The hero of the game was junior forward 
Zachary Stauber, as he netted the game-winning goal in the 58
th minute. Sophomore forward 
Ethan Fettaya was credited with the assist for his first collegiate point.
"It was great to start the season with a win after all the hard work the boys put in," Yeshiva University head coach 
J.J. Davidson said. "I was especially pleased that the team showed character to come from behind in challenging circumstances!"
Delaware Valley struck first, as sophomore defender Teddy Davis took a feed from freshman midfielder Matt Miller and propelled the ball into the net, during the 36
th minute, to put YU at a one-goal disadvantage.
The Maccabees were able to generate late first-half magic, as freshman midfielder 
Jess Rom poked the ball into the cage with two ticks left before intermission, to tie the match at one goal apiece.
In the second stanza, Yeshiva earned multiple scoring opportunities as sophomore forward 
Joseph Aron executed back-to-back shots on net but was denied twice by junior goalkeeper Josh Jarrett. Jarrett was also able to stop Rom's quality scoring chance, keeping the game knotted at one.
During the 58
th minute, the Maccabees finally broke through as Fettaya lined a pass to Stauber who drilled the ball past Jarrett and into the back of the net to give YU its first lead of the match.  
The Aggies tilted the field in their favor during the closing minutes of regulation time. The Maccabees' defense did not break as the home team had limited opportunities to score. However, with six seconds remaining, Davis drilled a point-blank shot on target, but junior goalkeeper 
Sagi Badash dove down to make the save. The clock struck zero and Yeshiva went on to earn a thrilling season-opening victory.
For the match, Yeshiva outshot the opposition, 11-8. Delaware Valley had the edge in corner kicks, 8-3.
In goal, Badash made four saves to pick the win, while his counterpart Jarrett turned aside seven shots.
The Maccabees will host their home opener on Sunday, against York College (N.Y.), at Votee Park. The action begins at 4:00 p.m.
