FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's tennis team earned a convincing non-conference victory over Lehman College, 9-0, at the USTA National Tennis Center on Tuesday evening.
"It has been a unique season for us," Yeshiva University Head Coach
Danielle Carr said. "We played six conference matches in two weeks and with very little practice time, but we persisted. Each match taught us about ourselves and gave us small victories that we were able to store and use in our final home match against Lehman."
Graduating senior
Anna Elfassy was honored with a senior night ceremony after the match. In the final fall home contest of her collegiate career, she was victorious at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1. The Casablanca native also teamed with sophomore
Liana Friedman to dominate the second doubles flight, 8-1.
"Congratulations to Anna for her two years of dedication to the program," Carr said. "She has had many positive experiences with the tennis program."
Juniors
Elisheva Gofman and
Esther Ackerman earned an impressive No. 1 doubles win, 8-6. Ackerman also picked up her third No. 1 singles victory of the year, 6-3, 6-0, and is now 5-0 in singles play this year. Gofman won the second singles position, 6-0, 6-2.
Junior
Naomi Feinberg won the first singles contest of her collegiate career, in a tiebreaker during the second set at the No. 5 slot, 6-1, 7-6 (2).
"Naomi is learning that grit, fortitude, and determination make up the Maccabees, not just great tennis," Carr explained.
Friedman won every game at No. 4 singles
