Elbaum Leads All Players in Digs During Women's Volleyball Team's Loss to Mount Saint Vincent

NEW YORK – The Yeshiva University women's volleyball team dropped its Skyline Conference match to College of Mount Saint Vincent, in straight sets, at the Max Stern Athletic Center on Thursday evening. Set scores were 25-9, 25-8, and 25-7.

Yeshiva (0-11, 0-10 Skyline) kept up with Mount Saint Vincent (14-10, 7-4 Skyline) early in the first set, as a kill by sophomore outside hitter Shira Sredni pulled the home team to within one, at 8-7. However, the Dolphins finished the opening set with a 17-2 run to go up 1-0 in the match. The visiting team went on to win the second and third games to complete the sweep.

For the Maccabees, sophomore libero Aleesa Elbaum led all players with 10 digs. Sredni slammed home four kills, tallied a service ace, and added three digs. Senior outside hitter Rebekah Bargraser had a solid match defensively with four digs. Junior setter Tali Miller produced three assists and one dig, while rookie outside hitter Ashley Botnick had a successful attack and a dig of her own. Sophomore defensive specialist Zoey Botnick and junior right side hitter Emily Zrihen each added a dig.

For the Dolphins, senior outside hitter Samantha Schroeder had a match-high eight kills, tallied five digs, scored an ace, and had an assist.

Yeshiva will host a non-conference tri-match on Sunday morning at the Max Stern Athletic Center. YU will take on Pratt at 11:00 a.m. and then The King's College N.Y. at 3:00 p.m. It will be Senior Day as Yeshiva University will honor graduating seniors Bargraser, Maya Rosen, Suzanne Wallach, and Sarina Hilowitz with a ceremony during the afternoon.
