FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's volleyball team suffered a Skyline Conference loss to SUNY Old Westbury, in straight sets, at the Nold Hall Athletic Complex on Wednesday evening. Set scores were 25-17, 25-9, and 25-11.
Leading the way for the Maccabees (0-2, 0-2 Skyline) was senior outside hitter
Rebekah Bargraser who slammed home a pair of kills and had a match-high seven digs. Sophomore middle blocker
Hannah Aaron also had two kills, just as many digs, and a block. Sophomore libero
Aleesa Elbaum anchored the defense with six digs. Rookie outside hitter
Shira Sredni had a strong match on the defensive side with five digs.
Yeshiva got off to a good start in the first set as a kill by Aaron narrowed YU's deficit to 11-10. Later in the set, the Panthers (2-5, 1-3 Skyline) scored six unanswered points to pull ahead, 18-11. The Maccabees went on a run to shrink Old Westbury's lead to 19-16, but the home team managed to score six of the set's final seven points to take a 1-0 advantage in the match.
After struggling in the second stanza, Yeshiva had an early 2-1 edge in the third game. However, Old Westbury shifted momentum into its direction and went on to clinch the conference victory in straight sets.

Keren Raskin scored an ace and recorded three digs, while sophomores
Ashley Botnick and
Zoey Botnick each chipped in on defense with a pair of digs. Junior setter
Tali Miller had a pair of assists. Senior outside hitter
Maya Rosen had an assist of her own and classmate
Suzanne Wallach executed a dig.
It will be a quick turnaround for Yeshiva as the women's volleyball team will take on York College (N.Y.), at York College Gymnasium, on Thursday evening. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
