FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's tennis team dropped a competitive Skyline Conference match to St. Joseph's College Long Island, 6-3, at the USTA National Tennis Center on Thursday evening.
Junior
Esther Ackerman continued her amazing season for the Maccabees (0-3, 0-3 Skyline) by earning a convincing victory at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1. She also teamed with classmate
Elisheva Gofman to notch a win at the first doubles flight, 8-5.
Rookie
Tali Kletnicki cruised to a victory in the sixth singles position, 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore
Liana Friedman won the second set of her No. 4 singles match but fell short in the super tiebreaker by a score of 10-3.
YU's strong effort would not be enough as St. Joseph's College Long Island (2-4, 2-2 Skyline) won two out of three doubles flights, and four out of six singles contests, to earn the Skyline win.
Yeshiva will host Baruch College, in a non-conference contest at the USTA National Tennis Center, on Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
