BROOKLYN –
Lior Pinchot made history on Tuesday evening, during the Yeshiva University women's soccer team's 3-1 loss to York College (N.Y.), at Aviator Field. The rookie phenom became the program's all-time single-season goal-scoring leader. She is now also tied for first overall on YU's All-Time Single-Season Points List with 17.
Pinchot set the single-season goal-scoring record thanks to her eighth goal of the season, during the 63
rd minute. The Skokie native caught the opposing goalkeeper out of the box and was able to tip the ball into the wide-open net to shrink the Cardinals' lead to 2-1. Danielle Blicker and Merav Saden Barach were originally tied for the top spot on YU's All-Time Single-Season Goals List entering this year, as they each scored seven goals in 2017 and 2013 respectively.
Pinchot sits with Blicker and Eliana Tuckman for first place on YU's All-Time Single-Season Points List. Blicker and Tuchman each produced 17 points during the 2017 season.
Pinchot's goal would not be enough as York earned the victory. Gema Guillen netted the first goal less than three minutes into the match. Taylor Bellman officially tallied the match-winning goal just over 14 minutes later.
After Pinchot's goal pulled YU to within one during the second half, the Cardinals got an insurance goal with 6:58 remaining in regulation time. York went on to win the non-conference match, 3-1.
For the evening,
Sophie Dubin made seven saves to help keep the Maccabees in the match. For the Cardinals, Stephanie Gutierrez stopped four shots to earn the victory in net.
Yeshiva will travel to the Bronx on Thursday, for a non-conference match against Lehman College, at the South Field. The action begins at 6:30 p.m.
