YAPHANK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University baseball team opened the 2021 season by dropping a pair of Skyline games (18-0 and 24-0 ) to College of Mount Saint Vincent, at Baseball Heaven, on Friday afternoon. Yeshiva starts the season 0-2 (0-2 Skyline), while CMSV bumps its record to 8-3 (5-3 Skyline).
The Maccabees struggled early, giving up 10 runs in the opening frame, and six more in the second inning, during game one. The Dolphins never looked back.
Leading the way for YU in the opening contest was sophomore catcher
Shai Rosalimsky, who went 1-for-2 with a single, reached base via a walk, and had four putouts behind the plate. First-year center fielder
Jacob Schwartzman also went 1-for-2 with a single and a walk. Sophomore shortstop
Ari Rosenberg led off the game with a double and was able to steal third. Junior first baseman

Judah Blonder each produced a single.
On the mound, junior
Dovie Solomon struck out four batters in five innings pitched. Second-year pitcher
Adam Zahler retired all three batters he faced in the bottom of the sixth.
For the Dolphins, sophomore pitcher Aidan Rice started the game and earned the win as he racked up nine strikeouts in four innings. At the plate, junior third baseman Michael Grisanti belted a grand slam to cap off the scoring in the first inning for Mount Saint Vincent.
In the second game, the Dolphins were held to just one run through the first three innings but exploded for 14 runs in the fourth and then seven more runs in the fifth.
Kreisberg once again had a strong game at the plate for Yeshiva by adding two more hits, including a double. Senior second baseman
Zachary Baly also drilled a double, while Blonder produced another single.
Junior Peter Sanderson earned the win on the mound for the Dolphins by going five innings and fanning 12 YU hitters.
These two teams will meet again on Sunday, for a doubleheader at Overpeck Park, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
