Baseball Drops Two Games to College of Mount Saint Vincent

PALISADES PARK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University baseball team dropped both ends of its doubleheader to College of Mount Saint Vincent (15-0 and 14-0), at the Palisades Park Regional Sportsplex, on Sunday afternoon.

CMSV (10-3, 6-3 Skyline) scored three runs in the first inning of game one and never looked back. The Maccabees (0-4, 0-3 Skyline) had multiple opportunities to get a run across in the first contest, including a bases loaded situation with nobody out in the bottom of the fourth, but could not break through. The Dolphins scored five runs in the fifth, and added two more in the sixth, to clinch the front end of the doubleheader.

For YU, sophomore left fielder Charles Bendheim went 2-for-3, while senior second baseman Zachary Baly, sophomore shortstop Ari Rosenberg, junior first baseman David Kreisberg, and first-year right fielder Eliyahu Solomon each drilled a single. Sophomore catcher Shai Rosalimsky reached base with a walk.

Graduate pitcher Amir Nitowski struck out eight Yeshiva batters in four shutout innings pitched to earn the win for the Dolphins. Junior pitcher Joey Kalish racked up a pair of strikeouts for the Maccabees in 2.1 innings of relief.

In game two, the Dolphins once again scored three runs in the first inning, putting Yeshiva in another early hole they could not climb out of. Junior third baseman Judah Blonder reached base three times with a single and a pair of walks for the Maccabees, while his teammate Baly added another single of his own.

Junior pitcher Humberto Vela earned the win in relief for the Dolphins. On the Macs' side, second-year pitcher Adam Zahler pitched a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.

Yeshiva will battle Manhattanville College, in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at the Manhattanville Baseball Field, on Friday morning. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
