TEANECK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking Skyline Conference loss, 2-1 in double overtime, to College of Mount Saint Vincent. The match took place at Votee Park on Sunday afternoon.
The match-clinching goal came from junior midfielder Ian Lamas as he took a feed from first-year midfielder Ruben Collazos and drilled the ball into the top-right corner of the net, just 47 seconds into the second overtime period. It was his second goal of the afternoon.
Both teams were scoreless after the first 45 minutes of play, with CMSV (1-0, 1-0 Skyline) having a slight edge in shots, 9-7.

Marc Ziarno rifled a shot that hit the crossbar, but
Yonatan Reiter jumped up from inside the box and headed the ball into the net for his first collegiate career goal to give the Maccabees a 1-0 advantage. Ziarno was credited with the assist.
YU had the lead for the majority of the second half. However, with six minutes remaining in regulation time, Lamas earned a free kick and took advantage by propelling the ball past senior goalkeeper
Sagi Badash from 25 yards out to even the match at one goal apiece.
The Maccabees had a golden opportunity to retake the lead with 2:18 left to play. A shot by sophomore forward
Lucas Baredes was denied by sophomore goalkeeper Joel Luna as he jumped up to prevent the ball from going into the top of the net. The match remained tied after 90 minutes of play.
Just over three minutes into the first overtime period, sophomore forward
Josh Ziarno attempted to win the match with a shot on target, but the ball went right into the arms of Luna. Late in the first extra session, sophomore midfielder Andres Benitez took advantage of a scramble and kicked the ball past the goalkeeper but a group of YU defenders inside the box blocked the ball from going into the wide-open net. The score remained 1-1 after 100 minutes of play.
Less than a minute into the second overtime period, Lamas scored his second goal of the afternoon, this one the match-winner, for the Dolphins.
For the afternoon, Yeshiva was outshot, 19-17. Each team had three corner kick opportunities.
In net, Badash made seven saves for the Maccabees. His counterpart, Luna, turned aside 10 shots.
Yeshiva will return to Votee Park next Monday evening for a Skyline matchup against St. Joseph's College Long Island. The contest is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m.
