OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - The Yeshiva University men's cross country team closed out the season strong by winning a pair of dual meets at the SUNY Old Westbury Invitational, on Friday morning, on the Old Westbury campus. The Maccabees defeated the Cardinals of York College (N.Y.), 25-40, and were victorious over the host-Panthers, 25-59. YU secures an undefeated season in dual meets at 3-0.
Junior
Gadiel Polster was the top individual finisher as he completed the 4k run in 14:45. Polster becomes the second YU runner to win a race this year. Senior
Marshall Northman won the 5k event at the Mount Saint Mary College Dual Meet, back on September 11.
Earning second place overall was Yeshiva junior
Joseph Segal who crossed the finish line at the 15:07 mark. Rookie
Ben Klarfeld rounded out the top five with a time of 16:30.
Junior
William Lerer earned a tie for sixth place by one second (16:32), while senior
Yisroel Tannenbaum was the 10
th runner to finish the 4k race (18:15). Junior
Jonathan Werta secured 12
th place (18:50).
"The guys were able to finish out a strong season on a positive note," Yeshiva University Assistant Coach
Alex Petrecca said. "A combination of smart racing and great kicks allowed them to clinch both victories."
The Yeshiva University men's cross country team will return to the course in 2023.
