Baseball Drops Two Skyline Games to Manhattanville

WEST HARRISON, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University baseball team dropped both ends of its Skyline Conference doubleheader to Manhattanville College, at Sliver Lake Park, on Friday afternoon. The final scores were 14-0 (game one) and 9-0 (game two).

The Valiants (4-2, 2-0 Skyline) had big first innings in each game, scoring nine runs during the opening frame of game one and five runs in the first inning of game two. Yeshiva (2-5, 0-2 Skyline) was unable to recover from the slow starts.

For YU in game one, senior Judah Blonder drilled a double, while junior Shai Rosalimsky reached base with a single and a walk. Sophomore Sammy Greenberg produced a single. On the mound, senior Adam Zahler pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Junior Travis Brescia started the game on the mound and got the win for the Valiants.

In game two, sophomore Joshua Mintz went 2-for-3 and earned a walk for Yeshiva, while Zahler and Blonder each reached base with a single. Greenberg, senior SJ Tannenbaum, and classmate Justin Hanelin each worked a walk.

On the mound, Zahler had another strong pitching performance, tossing four scoreless innings in relief, giving up just one hit, and striking out a batter. Senior Joey Kalish started the game and fanned four opposing hitters.

Freshman Ray White got the win for Manhattanville by pitching four shutout innings and racking up four strikeouts.

Yeshiva will travel to Long Island on Tuesday, for a Skyline doubleheader against SUNY Old Westbury, at the Farmingdale State College Baseball Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
