RIDGFIELD, N.J. – The Yeshiva University softball team dropped a non-conference contest to John Jay College, 14-0, at Overpeck Park on Wednesday evening. The Maccabees fall to to 0-7, while the Bloodhounds advance to 4-2.
Graduate student
Miriam Kazlow earned the start in the circle, for the Maccabees, and went the distance. She pitched a scoreless first inning and had five assists on defense for the game.
The Bloodhounds scored a run in the second and three in the third. They opened the flood gates in the top of the fourth with six runs, including a two-run inside-the-park home run from freshman Rylea Sandel and a three-run inside-the-park homer courtesy of rookie Angelina Schoelles.
At the plate for the Maccabees, junior
Yael Dannenbaum worked a walk. In the field, second-year player
Elisheva Miller had six putouts at first base. Junior
Esther Miller provided a pair of assists at shortstop. Sophomore
Kyra Appel, junior
Emuna Shiller, and classmate
Chana Fischer each produced two putouts on defense. Sophomore
Shayna Kahane made a catch in center field.
For John Jay, junior Julianne Graepel pitched five innings without giving up a hit to earn the win in the circle.
Yeshiva will host St. Joseph's College Brooklyn, in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Ridgefield Park, on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
