CHESTER, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University softball team dropped both ends of its Skyline Conference doubleheader to Mount Saint Mary College (N.Y.), 11-0 and 10-1, at The Rock on Friday afternoon.
In game one, junior
Emily Zrihen and sophomore
Shayna Kahane each hit a single for the Maccabees (0-11, 0-4 Skyline). It would not be enough as the Knights (6-11, 5-1 Skyline) scored five runs in each of the first two innings on their way to the win.
In the circle, sophomore Bridget Morris notched her second victory of the season, striking out 13 batters in five innings pitched.
Junior
Yael Dannenbaum and Kahane led off the second game with back-to-back walks to help YU get started. With two runners on, and one out, junior
Emuna Shiller slapped a single through the left side to score Dannenbaum and give the Macs a 1-0 advantage. Mount Saint Mary escaped the jam without further damage. The Knights' bats got to work and scored nine runs in the bottom frame to put the game out of reach for the Maccabees.
During the second contest, Dannenbaum worked two walks, while sophomore
Shai Rahamim earned a base on balls as well.
Senior Christen Hansen earned her fourth win of the season in the circle as she struck out nine batters in five innings of work.
Yeshiva will take on Purchase College, in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at the Purchase College Softball Field, on Sunday morning. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
