NEW YORK - The No. 2 seed Yeshiva University men's tennis team will compete for the Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday, as the Maccabees will battle the first-seeded Valiants of Manhattanville College. First serve at the Manhattanville College Tennis Courts is set for 1:00 p.m. Yeshiva aims to capture its seventh league title in the last eight completed seasons. The winner of this match will not only win the Skyline Championship but earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament.

The Maccabees (9-4, 6-1 Skyline) earned a spot in the conference championship match by winning the league semifinal round over the No. 3 seed and 2021 Skyline Champion Farmingdale State College, 5-1, at the USTA National Tennis Center this past Thursday evening. Earlier that day, Manhattanville (12-5, 7-0 Skyline) earned a convincing victory on its home courts over fourth-seeded Merchant Marine, 5-0.
Yeshiva and Manhattanville had a head-to-head encounter in the final match of the 2021-22 regular season, at the Brookdale Park Tennis Center, back on May 1. In a battle of undefeated teams in conference play, the Valiants earned the hard-fought 6-3 victory to clinch the No. 1 seed in the Skyline Championships. The Macs settled for the No. 2 seed.
Last season, on April 23, 2021, Manhattanville defeated Yeshiva to snap the Blue and White's 38-match Skyline winning streak. It was YU's first conference loss since April 6, 2014.
Leading the way for the Maccabees has been graduate student
Tomer Mendler, who went 7-4 in No. 1 singles flights this year. The Tel Aviv native also won five No. 1 doubles battles. Senior
Aaron Cohen is 4-2 in singles competition, including 3-2 at the second position, while earning a 5-2 record in doubles play. Mendler and Cohen teamed up to win a hard-fought No. 1 doubles battle over Farmingdale State College, 8-6, in the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Championships. Rookie
Akiva Ackerman is off to a great start in his collegiate tennis career, going 6-3 in singles play and 6-4 in doubles competition. Ackerman won every game at No. 6 doubles in the Macs' playoff triumph over the Rams. Also, in YU's win over Farmingdale, senior

Yoni Mayer won at No. 3 doubles, 8-3. Bassan claimed every game at the third singles position. Senior
Anthony Lallouz was victorious at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-0.
In Manhattanville's Skyline Semifinal win over Merchant Marine, senior Dylan Crowley dominated at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0. He also teamed with sophomore Weston Goodwin to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-2. Junior Luis Gonzalez won at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-3, while joining forces with graduate student Ryan Rosenberg to claim No. 2 doubles, 8-2. Sophomore James Hourihan and senior Nick Schlapak were victorious at No. 1 doubles, 8-5.
