The Maccabees (9-4, 6-1 Skyline) earned a spot in the conference championship match by winning the league semifinal round over the No. 3 seed and 2021 Skyline Champion Farmingdale State College, 5-1, at the USTA National Tennis Center this past Thursday evening. Earlier that day, Manhattanville (12-5, 7-0 Skyline) earned a convincing victory on its home courts over fourth-seeded Merchant Marine, 5-0.

Yeshiva and Manhattanville had a head-to-head encounter in the final match of the 2021-22 regular season, at the Brookdale Park Tennis Center, back on May 1. In a battle of undefeated teams in conference play, the Valiants earned the hard-fought 6-3 victory to clinch the No. 1 seed in the Skyline Championships. The Macs settled for the No. 2 seed.

Last season, on April 23, 2021, Manhattanville defeated Yeshiva to snap the Blue and White's 38-match Skyline winning streak. It was YU's first conference loss since April 6, 2014.

Leading the way for the Maccabees has been graduate student Tomer Mendler, who went 7-4 in No. 1 singles flights this year. The Tel Aviv native also won five No. 1 doubles battles. Senior Aaron Cohen is 4-2 in singles competition, including 3-2 at the second position, while earning a 5-2 record in doubles play. Mendler and Cohen teamed up to win a hard-fought No. 1 doubles battle over Farmingdale State College, 8-6, in the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Championships.  Rookie Akiva Ackerman is off to a great start in his collegiate tennis career, going 6-3 in singles play and 6-4 in doubles competition. Ackerman won every game at No. 6 doubles in the Macs' playoff triumph over the Rams. Also, in YU's win over Farmingdale, senior Leon Bassan and junior Yoni Mayer won at No. 3 doubles, 8-3. Bassan claimed every game at the third singles position. Senior Anthony Lallouz was victorious at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-0.

In Manhattanville's Skyline Semifinal win over Merchant Marine, senior Dylan Crowley dominated at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0. He also teamed with sophomore Weston Goodwin to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-2. Junior Luis Gonzalez won at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-3, while joining forces with graduate student Ryan Rosenberg to claim No. 2 doubles, 8-2. Sophomore James Hourihan and senior Nick Schlapak were victorious at No. 1 doubles, 8-5.
