PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Yeshiva University women's soccer team had a strong performance on defense on Thursday night, but it was not enough as Mount Saint Mary College earned the Skyline victory, 6-0, at the Purchase College Soccer Field. The Knights (1-5-1, 1-0-0 Skyline) scored five goals in the first half, but the Maccabees' (0-7-0, 0-6-0 Skyline) defense held a potent Mount Saint Mary attack to just one goal during the final 45 minutes of play.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Daniella Bessler had yet another strong performance in net for Yeshiva, stopping 29 shots. She is now averaging 20.6 saves per match this season.
Mount Saint Mary was led by freshman midfielder Angie Mainiero, who scored two goals and added an assist. Junior midfielder Wendy Guerra produced a pair of goals of her own.
Yeshiva will host Manhattanville College, in a Skyline Conference matchup, at Riverside County Park on Sunday. The action begins at 12:00 p.m.
