NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The Yeshiva University women's volleyball team fell in three sets to Skyline foe Mount Saint Mary College, at the Kaplan Center, on Thursday evening. Set scores were 25-4, 25-12, and 25-4.
Leading the way for the Maccabees (0-7, 0-6 Skyline) was junior
Ashley Botnick who led all players with 16 digs. Her sister, junior
Zoey Botnick, generated nine digs and three assists Rookie
Shany Elmaleh had another solid match with a pair of kills and nine digs.
The Knights (3-4, 1-0 Skyline) led from wire-to-wire in each of the first two sets. Yeshiva had a brief 1-0 lead in the third stanza, but Mount Saint Mary erased its deficit right away and went on to earn the conference victory. They were led by senior Grace Riddle who slammed home 15 kills.
For the Macs, seniors
Tali Miller and
Emily Zrihen each had a kill and three digs. Classmate
Daniella Rothman had a kill and a dig, while senior
Devorah Batt scored a service ace.
Yeshiva will battle Baruch College, in a non-conference match at the ARC Arena, on Sunday afternoon. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. YU will be the official home team in that match.
