NEW YORK - The Yeshiva University women's volleyball team dropped its non-conference match to Baruch College, in straights sets, at ARC Arena on Sunday afternoon. Set scores were 25-11, 25-8, and 25-17.
The Bearcats (6-5) led from wire-to-wire in each of the first two sets. In the third game, senior
Gabrielle Kupferman slammed home a kill to tie the set at two points apiece. After Baruch jumped out to a 7-3 advantage, a kill by senior

Emily Zrihen highlighted three straight Yeshiva (0-8) points to pull them to within one. Later in the set, kills by Kupferman and senior
Devorah Batt, plus a service ace from classmate
Tali Miller, sparked a 7-2 run to narrow Yeshiva's deficit to 18-15. However, Baruch scored seven of the final nine points to clinch the set and the match.
For the Maccabees, Rothman and Kupferman each had three kills, with the former having two digs with a block and the latter tallying an assist and a dig. Junior
Aleesa Elbaum produced a team-high eight digs. Rookie
Shany Elmaleh had a kill, six digs, and a pair of assists. Zrihen generated seven digs, a kill, and a block. Miller helped out with six assists. Junior
Ashley Botnick chipped in on defense with five digs, while her sister
Zoey Botnick added four digs of her own. Batt produced three digs.
For the Bearcats, junior Mariely Taveras scored seven kills. Rookie Mariajose Ortiz-Marmolejo led all players on defense with 10 digs.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Maccabees as Yeshiva will host the United States Merchant Marine Academy, in a Skyline contest at ARC Arena, on Monday evening. First serve is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
