JERSEY CITY - The Yeshiva University women's soccer team dropped its season opener to New Jersey City University, 10-0, at Cochrane Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Leading the way for the Maccabees (0-1) was sophomore goalkeeper
Daniella Bessler who made a strong impression in her collegiate debut by setting the program's all-time single-match record with 36 saves. The previous record was held by Tamar Kram ('10) who stopped 32 shots against Farmingdale State College on September 7, 2008.
For the match, New Jersey City University (1-0) scored four goals in the first half, and then added six more in the final 45 minutes, to secure the victory.
Yeshiva will battle SUNY Old Westbury, in a Skyline matchup at the Farmingdale State Soccer Field, on Sunday. The action will begin at 11:00 a.m.
