FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's soccer team dropped its Skyline opener to SUNY Old Westbury, 9-0, at the Farmingdale State Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees fall to 0-2 overall (0-1 Skyline), while the Panthers win their season opener.
Old Westbury exploded with seven goals in the opening period, and then added two more during the final 45 minutes of play.
For the Maccabees, sophomore goalkeeper
Daniella Bessler made 16 saves. She is now averaging 26 saves per match so far this season. Senior midfielder
Anjelica Feig led the Macs' attack with three shots, with two of them being on goal.
For the Panthers, senior forward Mia Almonte led the way with four goals and two assists during the afternoon. Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Pasquariello earned the shutout victory in net.
Yeshiva will return to the Farmingdale State Soccer Stadium on Tuesday, for a conference matchup with the host Farmingdale State College Rams. The action kicks off at 4:00 p.m.
