FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's tennis team showed a lot of promise in its season opener at perennial Skyline Conference Championship contender Farmingdale State College on Wednesday afternoon. Although the Maccabees lost by a score of 8-1, the rookies of Yeshiva competed in several competitive flights.
Newcomer
Sarah Leiderman earned a hard-fought victory at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (6). Earlier in the afternoon, she teamed up with fellow rookie
Sarah Grunseid and just fell short in a very competitive No. 3 doubles battle, 8-7 (4).
At No. 2 doubles, first-year players
Shira Adler and

"We have a lot of new faces, and it was a good learning experience right off the bat," Yeshiva University Head Coach
Danielle Carr said. "We can only go up from here."
Yeshiva will take on Purchase College, in a Skyline Conference match at the Purchase College Tennis Courts, on Sunday morning. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Note, Yeshiva will be the official home team in that contest.
